Background

Online news portal The Outsider was first launched on January 1, 2010 which offers an unvarnished take on events and personalities in Malaysia. The Outsider is led by a group of passionate journalists who aim to provide professionalism performance to its audiences. The Outsider covers the issues of the day like nation or world, it also provide feature stories like commentary or travel and so on. The Outsider aims to target people who able asses to the internet, especially age between 18 until 55. Malaysians who crave for balanced and full coverage of reporting on issues could contribute their news and views to The Outsider.

Masthead

The Outsider—bring the metaphor that the group of journalists would treat themselves as the outsider, view things outside of the issue and impersonal, without adding own feeling in order to provide a more credible and trustworthy news. Besides, the white color of masthead in representing purity and neutrality while blue color is seen as trustworthy, dependable, and committed. It portrays the mission of the group – to be neutral and trustworthy.

2. To provide current issues through diversity viewpoints

3. To educate people into more knowledgeable and develop independent thoughts
